Wide receiver Terrell Owens
has been released by the Seattle Seahawks. The early release gives Owens a shot to make another team's 53-man roster. Owens tweeted, "I'm no longer a Seahawk. I THANK the organization 4 the opportunity, I'm truly blessed beyond belief. My FAITH is intact & will NOT waiver."
Fantasy Analysis:
After being somehwat optimisitc about Owens joining the Seahawks, FFToolbox had previously dropped his ranking into the 70's. Now, off he's off the board unless another teams comes calling. Owens can still move, stretch defenses yet struggled with drops downfield. He only caught two passes for 41 yards in the two preseason games he participated in. After missing the 2011 season, Owens was obviously never a lock to make Seattle's roster. The Seahawks will rely heavily on Sidney Rice
and Doug Baldwin
to lead their receivers group. This could potentially be a very young team, especially if rookie quarterback Russell Wilson
ends up starting ahead of Matt Flynn. Owens' tweet isn't a bad idea since it quickly informed the media (and other teams) that he's available. Let the bidding begin!
