Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Jay Raliff was unable to finish Saturday's preseason game against the St. Louis Rams due to a high ankle sprain. His status is in doubt for the Cowboys regular season opener against the New York Giants. Ratliff did not participate in the first two preseason games because of plantar fasciitis. Team owner Jerry Jones told reporters, "Well, yeah, (we are) concerned about any injury getting to that we're within 10 days of playing, so you have to be concerned about it."
Fantasy Analysis:
Dallas is dealing with injuries across the board, starters and bench players alike. Ratliff is a key piece to the defense so the sooner he can come back, the better. The problem with high ankle sprains is they easy to reaggravate if not given enough rest. In all likelihood, Ratliff shouldn't play in Week 1 and perhaps longer. That said, he's a very tough player and hasn't missed a game since the regular-season finale of the 2007 season.
