The Baltimore Ravens released kicker Billy Cundiff. In his place, the new kicker will be undrafted kicker Justin Tucker out of the University of Texas. Cundiff made the Pro Bowl in 2010 but is more recently infamous for missing a game-tying, 32-yard field goal against the New England Patriots which abruptly ended their playoff run in the AFC Championship game.
Fantasy Analysis:
Cutting Cundiff loose saves the team $2.2 million in salary. Tucker converted all five of his field goal attempts so far this preseason and put his stronger leg on display. He made to 50-plus yard field goals while Cundiff went 1-for-6 from that distance last season. It's probably all for the best as many fans couldn't move on or forgive Cundiff for his key miss in the playoffs last year. Tucker may be a low-end K1 for fantasy owners, especially if he can keep converting his longer kicks.
