UPDATE: Lions RB Kevin Smith twists ankle, x-rays negative

Detroit Lions running back Kevin Smith @kevinsmith34 limped off to the sidelines during Saturday's preseason game against the Oakland Raiders because of a twisted ankle. Smith told reporters, "I just got scared being under that pile of big guys. I was scared it was another high ankle sprain and I know how long it took me to get back healthy from that. It's not a high ankle sprain, so that's a positive." X-rays came back negative and Smith feels optimistic he won't have to miss much time with the regular season opener coming soon.

Fantasy Analysis:

The Lions can obviously hardly afford injuries at the running back position. It was a rough game for the Lions since Matthew Stafford @Staff_9 was hurt as well as two cornerbacks, Chris Houston @Chris23Houston and Dwight Bentley. Houston may be the most severely injured although tests have not confirmed the severity of his injury at this time. Smith remains the tentative frontrunner to lead the Lions' backfield in Week One.

Kevin Smith? Injured? Get outta here.

I really feel bad for him. I know this isn't severe or whatnot, but so much of his ability was stolen from him in college.

Come draft day, I'm not touching the Detriot backfield with a 10 foot pole.

as a late drop/add, this guy won two weeks for me down the stretch, including a playoff game... im going to give him (late) shot, maybe my fourth rb, he might last that long
