Detroit Lions running back Kevin Smith
limped off to the sidelines during Saturday's preseason game against the Oakland Raiders because of a twisted ankle. Smith told reporters, "I just got scared being under that pile of big guys. I was scared it was another high ankle sprain and I know how long it took me to get back healthy from that. It's not a high ankle sprain, so that's a positive." X-rays came back negative and Smith feels optimistic he won't have to miss much time with the regular season opener coming soon.
Fantasy Analysis:
The Lions can obviously hardly afford injuries at the running back position. It was a rough game for the Lions since Matthew Stafford
was hurt as well as two cornerbacks, Chris Houston
and Dwight Bentley. Houston may be the most severely injured although tests have not confirmed the severity of his injury at this time. Smith remains the tentative frontrunner to lead the Lions' backfield in Week One.
