Carolina Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart
sprained his right ankle during the second quarter of Sunday's game versus the Jets and was carted away from the field a few minutes later. According to the Charlotte Observer's Joe Person, Stewart was on crutches after the game. However, head coach Ron Rivera said X-rays on Stewart's ankle came back "completely negative." Rivera also said he didn't think Stewart had the dreaded high ankle sprain.
Fantasy Analysis:
Stewart has already been ruled out for Thursday's preseason finale, but that's nothing. We should get another update on Stewart's condition Monday after an MRI. DeAngelo Williams
would get a bump in value if Stewart has to miss any playing time. If I had to guess, I think Stewart is very questionable for Week 1. Two weeks isn't much time for even a run-of-the-mill sprained ankle to heal.
