Colts expect WR Austin Collie to play in Week 1
Indianapolis head coach Chuck Pagano said Monday that wide receiver Austin Collie "should be ready" when the team kicks off the regular season against the Chicago Bears in 13 days. Collie suffered his fourth concussion in two years last Sunday versus Pittsburgh.
I don't think Collie has passed his baseline tests nor been cleared by an independent neurologist, but the team seems to think that will happen soon enough. Collie has fallen way, way down draft boards -- he is now No. 80 among WRs, according to FFToolbox -- but that just makes him that much more of a value pick. As long as he is cleared soon and doesn't suffer a reoccurrence of concussion symptoms, I abslutely adore him as a late-round draft pick. The Colts have been planning to move Collie in the slot and out wide, and keep him on the field for all three downs this season.
