Teams across the league have been placing players on the regular season Physically Unable to Perform List today in an effort to solidify their 75-man roster by this afternoon's deadline. The most prominent offensive player put on that list so far? Carolina Panthers wide receiver David Gettis. He missed all of training camp because of a hamstring injury. The team had hopes that he would be ready by now, but instead, Gettis won't be able to play in the first six games. Since the Panthers have a Week-6 bye, Gettis can't return until Week 8 at the earliest.
Fantasy Analysis:
Yeah, it's not a huge deal that fantasy owners lost Gettis. But this is becoming troublesome for the Panthers. Steve Smith is on crutches due to a foot infection, and expectations during the summer were that Gettis would be their No. 3 WR. Smith should be back soon, but Brandon LaFell
seems to be the go-to guy in the short term. You could do worse if you're searching for a deep sleeper.
