Jaguar head coach expects RB Rashad Jennings to start week one

Jaguars.com senior writer John Oheser recently tweeted head coach Mike Mularkey "definitely expects RB Rashad Jennings to start at RB in regular season opener" regardless if Jones-Drew reports to camp this week.

Fantasy Analysis:

I think it is about time for all Jones-Drew owners, at least the remaining few who weren't concerned, to start to worry a little about the situation currently brewing down in Jacksonville. There were obviously already concerns, but the Jaguars had been non-commital about who would be starting in week one, leaving the door open in the event MJD reported. However, Mularkey is now willing to state even if Jones-Drew shows this week, he won't be starting in week one. Expect Jennings already rising ADP to skyrocket in the coming days and MJD's stock to plummet. Jones-Drew is one of the best RBs in the league, but that means nothing if he isn't on the field. Owners drafting this week would be wise to take the latest into account and if you are willing to take a chance on MJD, reaching for Jennings is an absolute must. Things seem to be getting worse and Mularkey's comments regarding week one will not sit well in the Jones-Drew camp.

At what point is MJD worth drafting? And is he worth trading for?

I am probably in the minority here, but I would treat MJD as a backup at this point. Obviously the most valuable of backups, but there is no way I am heading into the season with Jones-Drew as my RB1 or RB2. In every league I'm in, that has drafted thus far, he has gone no later than the 3rd and that is just too early for me. I can't imagine he doesn't return relatively soon, but there is just too much risk at this point. I would start really considering him, depending on which slot I'm picking from, probably around the 4th-5th round. If I'm on the back end, with two picks in a row and he falls, I probably lock him up. But I am not sure he ever falls that far.

I would definitely try and make a deal for him. Right now is the best time to strike in my opinion. Given what price the MJD owner had to pay to draft him, he's got to have a major hole in his team currently and the anxiety should be pretty high after the news released yesterday. If you've got some depth on your team at RB and can wait out the holdout with minimal collateral damage, I think you should be knocking down the MJD owner's door with offers.
