It has been rumored and all but expected for some time, but Detroit Lions running back Jahvid Best
was finally put on the Physically Unable to Perform list Monday. He will not be able to play until at least Week 8. He still hasn't been cleared for contact after suffering a concussion last season. Best did take part in offseason workouts but has spent all of training camp on the sidelines.
Fantasy Analysis:
It was basically a given but still quite unfortunate for Best, who just can't shake his problems with concussions, which date back to college. It's fair to wonder if he will play a down this season. You can take him off of your radar. Kevin Smith
and Mikel Leshoure
will open the season as the team's top two RBs. Smith will be the starter early on as Leshoure sits through a two-game suspension. Both running backs have been so prone to injury as pros, but Smith is a flex option in the early weeks. Leshoure will get more and more work as the season rolls along.
