It was difficult to not be impressed by Cedric Benson
in his Green Bay Packers debut last week versus the Bengals. Packers running backs coach Alex Van Pelt certainly liked what he saw, and he told the team's official web site that Benson gives their running game the "explosiveness" they haven't had in a while.
Fantasy Analysis:
Up is down, black is white, and people are touting Cedric Benson's explosiveness. Welcome to your new reality.
Benson rushed six times for 38 yards against the Bengals, routinely slicing through them up the middle. He looked great; he looked fresh. I have no doubt that facing his former team played a big factor in that. Benson should see a lot of running room this season behind Aaron Rodgers. Defenses won't be able to key on him much because that passing game is almost unstoppable. Plus, with James Starks
nursing a turf toe injury, Benson is slated to get most of the early down work at the start of the season.
But let's keep the praise to respectable levels with descriptions that actually fit Benson, OK? Benson had a few nice series in a preseason game; let's not all go crazy. This is still Cedric Benson. With a big enough workload, he could be your RB2 in time.
