Cowboys WR Miles Austin has no doubt he'll play Week 1

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin @MilesAustinIII was asked Tuesday if he has any doubts that he will play Sept. 5 against the New York Giants. His response was quick to the point: "No."

Fantasy Analysis:

Well, OK then. But here's the truth: Austin is dealing with his third hamstring injury in the past 12 months right now. He hasn't practiced since early August, and he's not expected to practice until the end of this week at the absolute earliest. The Cowboys hopefully understand what they are risking if Austin is pushed to play in that season opener. Far be it from me to say the team is rushing him, but if Austin can't practice until at least Friday, it seems to be a long shot that he will play five days later. Maybe he would be activated for a limited number of snaps that night, but I think the team would be best served sitting him down and hoping that he'll be that much better come Week 2. Meanwhile, Austin is one guy I want no part of in drafts.

Brian, I think the cowboys are taking a page out of the Patriot handbook of preserving their key big players....if Miles goes for 7/120/1 td he is the steal of all drafts at the end a the 3rd/4th ff drafts....the media will say "we knew it..he's back".

If he does that in Week 1 or Week 2, great.

The bigger concern is does he re-strain a hamstring a week after that performance. Or two weeks after? I don't want any part of Austin because his upside no longer exceeds his red flags. He's good, but he's not top-5, and his injuries are specific, repetitive and easily aggravated.
