Due to his unique injury (lacerated spleen), Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten
will likely be a game-time decision for Week 1. Josh Ellis of DallasCowboys.com stated that Witten underwent testing on Tuesday to get a better look at his injury. The results were "not conclusive enough tos ay for sure he can play." Ellis went on to speculate that he'll be listed as questionable for the game and the coaching staff will check on him leading up to the game.
Fantasy Analysis:
Witten is a true steal now that his average draft position has likely bottomed out. There's no reason to believe Witten couldn't potentially finish the season as the game's top fantasy tight end. He's been one of the most consistent and productive guys at his position since his second year in the NFL back in 2004. Given the injury histories of Dez Bryant
and Miles Austin
, there will be tons of snaps where Tony Romo is looking at Witten as his No. 1 target. Witten is slipping into the eighth round in some 12-team formats since going as high as the sixth round just a couple weeks ago.
