A closer look at the crowded Washington Redskins backfield

Ben Standig, one of the head writers here at FFToolbox, contributed a piece to CSNWashington.com discussing the fantasy scenarios of the Washington Redskins backfield (a link to the article can be found below). In it, he first discusses Roy Helu @royhelujr29 and his "dazzling second half stretch" last season which would usually leave one assuming that he would be the 2012 starter. Unfortunately, there are three other players all vying for a spot.in the offense.

Fantasy Analysis:

Alfred Morris @Trey_Deuces, Tim Hightower and Evan Royster @Evan_Royster all might end up deserving of a roster spot at some point this season but there's no reason to reach in your fantasy drafts for any of them. For now, Morris is the trendy late-round flier as he's excelled in recent preseason game. The truth is, the only guy you want to own is Helu until another back steps up in a big way. The Redskins hot-hand approach will do you no favors on game day and there's nothing worse than lacking the confidence to start a player on your fantasy squad because he disappears for weeks at a time. If this does end up being a four-headed monster backfield, it may turn out that even Robert Griffin III could lead this team in rushing yards.
