Chargers might give RB Ronnie Brown big workload if RB Ryan Mathews is out

Shortly after running back Ryan Mathews @rmathews24 fractured his collarbone about three weeks ago, San Diego Chargers head coach Norv Turner indicated he would depend on the rest of his backfield -- Ronnie Brown, Curtis Brinkley @boonah920, Le'Ron McClain @LeRon_McClain33 -- to pick up the slack collectively. But on Wedensday, Turner said he would like it if one of those players emerged to take on more carries. Turner's favorite appears to be Ronnie Brown, whom he called a "complete player."

Fantasy Analysis:

Despite the flood of optimism from Mathews, he is still expected to miss at least one game, probably no more than three. So any extra opportunity Brown gets would be short lived. I'm not sure if he can handle 20 or more carries effectively at this stage in his career, so don't totally buy what Turner is selling here; Brown will still have to share some touches with more than one backs. And when he's been given the ball over the past two years, Brown has looked old and slow. Despite what his head coach thinks, Brown should be drafted only as insurance by Mathews owners.

True... but, this season he reported to camp 20 pounds lighter and in better shape. He also knows that he'll get some carries for the first time in a while. Personally, I think he could be a late round bargain, good for the first couple of weeks and a good stash a way player with Mathews having durability issues.
