Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jonathan Dwyer
could overtake Isaac Redman
for the team's starting role after a solid performance (13 carries for 63 yards). The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette appears to be merely speculating during a game recap, rather than reporting on some inner workings. Redman is still recovering from ankle and hip injuries. F Dale Lolley, a beat writer for the Washington Observer-Reporter also speculated that Redman is at risk of being pushing into a role as a third-down back.
Fantasy Analysis:
While the beat writers are entitled to their opinion and are, of course, very close to the situation, it's still just an opinion. Until someone with the Steelers suggests otherwise, Redman is the back to own but this is obviously a tenuous situation. The separation between Dwyer and Redman is obviously thin to say the least. If you haven't drafted yet, I'd much rather draft Redman in the waning rounds of my draft rather than take a reach for Redman who's going earlier and earlier in drafts.
