There have been some surprising cuts today, but one announcement was not a surprise: John Skelton is the Arizona Cardinals' starting quarterback. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt made it official Friday. Skelton will start Sept. 9 versus the Seattle Seahawks. He beat Kevin Kolb
for the job in training camp. Kolb becomes the immediate backup.
Fantasy Analysis:
Kolb completed a higher percentage of passes during the preseason, but he made more mistakes than Skelton. Skelton isn't a major upgrade, but he seemed to have a better control of the offense this month. You're not starting either of these guys in fantasy; what you care about is whether Skelton can get the ball to Larry Fitzgerald
consistently. Last year, Fitzgerald compiled 902 yards and six touchdowns in eight games with Skelton. That was better than what he did with Kolb, so this move doesn't hurt Fitzgerald's rank.
