It was rumored Friday that the Miami Dolphins and Washington Redskins were working on a deal that would send wide receiver Anthony Armstrong
south for running back Steve Slaton
. On Saturday, the Dolphins were able to add Armstrong and get rid of Slaton, just not through a trade.
The Dolphins claimed Armstrong off of waivers after the Redskins released him Friday. They then cut Slaton. Armstrong was a member of the Dolphins practice squad in 2008 before being released prior to the 2009 season.
Fantasy Analysis:
Armstrong caught 44 passes in 2010 and has 51 catches in his NFL career. Thus, he immediately becomes one of the Dolphins' most productive NFL wideouts. This group is so bad, Armstrong could be starting soon. He's a deep threat, but Miami wide receivers should be off limits, except for Davone Bess in large PPR leagues.
Slaton was fodder for the Dolphins. Maybe he still ends up in Washington, because that's what the Redskins need: Another running back with which to confuse us even more.
