Redskins keeping their starting RB a 'secret'

Who is going to be the Washington Redskins' starting running back? With Mike Shanahan as head coach, it seems like we never know, and 2012 is no different. According to the team's official Twitter feed, Shanahan said Saturday that he has been impressed by the "tremendous progression" shown by Roy Helu @royhelujr29 and Evan Royster @Evan_Royster in pass protection and that between those two and Alfred Morris @Trey_Deuces, he knows who is going to start Week 1 versus the New Orleans Saints. But he's not telling. Shanahan said that's a secret.

Fantasy Analysis:

Oh, of course it is. We really don't care who starts; we need to discover who is going to get the most touches. If all three are healthy -- and it looks like they are right now -- Helu is still the guy you should draft first out of this trio. He has speed and good receiving skills. And because of his Achilles tendinitis and the emergence of Royster and Morris during the preseason, Helu has dropped into the eighth or ninth round of 12-team drafts on average, according to FFToolbox. From there, I think Morris is second and Royster is third. But when it comes to Shanahan, it shouldn't shock you if his depth chart looks the exact opposite. It's going to be another maddening year figuring out this never-ending riddle but if sanity prevails, Helu should get the plurality of touches.

Even Shanahan doesn't know what he's going to do. He just flies by the seat of his pants when it comes to playing his RB's.
