Panthers 'very encouraged' about RB Jonathan Stewart's Week 1 status

Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart @Jonathanstewar1 has yet to practice nine days after spraining his right ankle. But he will travel with the team to Tampa Bay for Sunday's game, and head coach Ron Rivera said Tuesday that Stewart is progressing at a good pace.
"It's coming along very well," Rivera said of Stewart's ankle. "He moved around an awful lot yesterday, so he was a little bit sore today -- a little bit more than we anticipated. He's moving around nicely. We are very encouraged."

Fantasy Analysis:

Stewart didn't practice Tuesday, but it's so early in the game week, I don't really care about his practice reports until Thursday or Friday. At best, he looks like a game-time decision right now. I think he'll be limited, making DeAngelo Williams @DeAngeloRB a really nice start against a Buccaneers defense that ranked last against the run in 2011.

12 team ppr league

right now i have arian foster and darren sproles in, and i have reggie wayne at the flex. worth the switch to d-will if stewart doesnt play? i dont how it affects the decision, but im also starting cam newton... and i really dont want to invest too much into carolina... i think i just answered my own question, and i feel much more comfortable with reggie wayne there... thanks

If Stewart is inactive, I think Williams is a better start than Wayne at Chiacgo. Just opportunity, outstanding matchup. Don't worry about too many eggs in a basket; just start the guys who will get the most points. And if Stewart doesn't play, I think DeAngelo will outscore Reggie.

Im in a standard scoring league. I have rashad jennings and demarco murray starting but i do have adrian peterson and jonathan stewart on my bench. Would stewart be a better option to start?

There's a chance that both players won't play. But if both do, I would go with Stewart. Vikings coaches are on the record that Peterson will get a very limited workload if he's active.
