Washington Redskins running back Alfred Morris
will start the regular season opener against the New Orleans Saints. Morris, a sixth-round pick out of Florida Atlantic, gets the nod over second-year backs Roy Helu
and Evan Royster
. NBC Washington anchor Dan Hellie tweeted the news.
Fantasy Analysis:
New Orleans allowed RBs to score the 11th-most fantasy points, or conversely was ranked 22nd in the NFL. I wouldn't necessarily run to the waiver wire to add Morris if he's still available in your league. Of course it's possible he goes nuts against the Saints and becomes the next big thing at running back. Considering the high odds that head coach Mike Shanahan rotates his running-back-by-committee, there's still not enough potential to really get me excited. The Saints new-look defense will need to play better in order to limit Morris. For those who rolled the dice and drafted Helu or Royster, you'll have to exercise some patience.
