Report: Bears RB Matt Forte suffers high ankle sprain

Per ESPN's NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Matt Forte @MattForte22 suffered a high ankle sprain Thursday night vs. Green Bay. The Bears running back - and a first-round pick for many a fantasy owner - went down in the third quarter on a 14-yard reception and did not return. By that point Forte racked up 80 total yards even as Chicago struggled offensively against Green Bay. Michael Bush @michaelbush29 took over, rushing 14 times for 54 yards.

Fantasy Analysis:

Yuck. No official recovery time frame yet, but backs are often out four weeks with the dreaded high ankle sprain - and even this type of injury can linger. Even with Bush's presence in the backfield, Forte was posting high-end numbers and no doubt any extended absence will be felt by fantasy owners. The negative impact, less so for those that drafted Bush, who took over for an injured Darren McFadden last season, as a handcuff. Starting in Week 3 against Jacksonville, Bush will play all three downs, making him an RB2 and likely top 15 overall option. Armando Allen is currently next in line, but the former Notre Dame runner is not worth adding at this point.
