Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez could miss six weeks

Early in the first quarter of New England's 20-18 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez @AaronHernandez had his ankle rolled on while making a downfield block. He left Sunday's game with a walking boot and on crutches. The former Florida pro did not comment on his injury or his status when leaving the stadium. Further tests need to be done to confirm the severity of the injury. Fellow teammate TE Rob Gronkowski @RobGronkowski told reporters, "Hopefully he's fine. He's a great player and we need him." Pro Football Talk reported that a source close to New England says Hernandez could miss up to six weeks.

Fantasy Analysis:

Details are predictably sparse as to the severity of Hernandez's injured ankle. The Patriots and head coach Bill Belichick are notoriously ambiguous when it comes to injury details although the team has yet to comment. Hernandez's absence from the gameplan certainly hurt the Pats' offense. They only scored 18 points since Week 8 last year when the Pittsburgh Steelers held them to 17 points. Although if Hernandez is unable to go next week and into the future, it could give WR Wes Welker @WesWelker more playing time since he's been unexpectedly absent from the stat sheet thus far in 2012.
