St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson
thought he scored a touchdown, but instead incurred a 15-yard penalty for celebrating (spiking the ball) and injured his groin in the process. Head coach Jeff Fisher confirmed with St. Louis Post-Dispatch beat writer Bernie Miklasz that Jackson had a groin strain. In his absence, the Rams relied on RB Daryl Richardson who carried the ball 15 times for 83 yards, caught two passes for 19 yards and lost a fumble.
Fantasy Analysis:
Jackson turned 29 over the summer although it seems like he's been in the league for far longer. Heading into Sunday's contest against the Washington Redskins, SJax had only missed two games in the last three seasons in spite of worrisome fantasy owners concerned about his potential demise. No announcement was made concerning his injury until after the game so specifics on the seriousness of the injury have yet to be released.
