Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera feels that the key to Carolina's success this season is because of wide receiver Brandon LaFell
's emergence as a legitimate No. 2 receiver. WR Steve Smith
echoed that sentiment when he said, "Ever since Moose (Muhsin Muhammad) retired and also with Ricky Proehl retiring, we've been looking for a guy to step in and step up. I think Brandon has done that."
Fantasy Analysis:
Please listen to FFToolbox's Tuesday podcast later tonight, hosted by our very own Ben Standig. He will be discussing in detail the Panthers-Giants Thursday night game with FoxSports' Andrew Jones. They will cover LaFell and all the other fantasy-relevant subjects surrounding that matchup.
LaFell received a lot of preseason hype from fantasy gurus as a potential breakout sleeper. Through two games, he has nine receptions for 155 yards and a touchdown. Hardly something to write home about, yet already on pace for a very productive season if those numbers are extrapolated into a full season (72 receptions, 1,240 yards and eight scores). LaFell should be thought of a solid flex option on a weekly basis as he looks much improved in his third year.
