Lions HC Jim Schwartz talks about RB Mikel Leshoure

Beat writers can hypothesize how much they think Detroit Lions running back Mikel Leshoure @MikelLeShoure25 will contribute now that he has served his two-game suspension. But what does head coach Jim Schwartz have to say on the topic? Well, not a whole lot.
Schwartz wouldn't say for sure if Leshoure will play Sunday versus the Titans, but he will be on the field if he is active.
"We won't activate him to keep him inactive," Schwartz said of Leshoure in a Tuesday radio interview.
"He was suspended (so) he wasn't allowed to be at our games or our practices, but he could still work out in our facility and go to team meetings, stuff like that. So we saw him around last week. He's worked really hard to be ready when his number's called. We've been waiting a long time to call his number, so we know he'll be ready."

Fantasy Analysis:

In short, Kevin Smith @kevinsmith34 probably remains a nice fantasy start for another week, and he has a great matchup versus the Titans. But Leshoure will be back before long and turn this backfield into a confusing mess. Leshoure should definitely be rostered since he's probably the Lions' best goal-line runner right now. When will he be at least a flex option for your team? I don't know, but I figure it'll be at least a few weeks. Don't forget that he is coming back from an Achilles tear, a major, major injury for any running back, so nothing is guaranteed. But in the meantime, try to sell Smith while his value is this high.

would love to see the second-year pick dominate that RB role on a potent offense... he certainly looks the part, when hes not getting high, anyway...

I expect him to get 10+ carries vs. the Titan and the Lions to give him every opportunity to take make this job his. Problem is, they have a pass-blocking O-line that can't run-block very well. LeShoure will certainly upgrade the RB position in Detroit and he's probably good for 8+ TDs this year, but don't expect him to go for 100+ yards every week.
