The Patriots have brought Deion Branch back for his third stint in New England. The Patriots signed Branch on Tuesday; he is expected to fill the roster spot left open by wide receiver Greg Salas
, who was cut earlier in the day.
Branch, 33, was one of the team's final cuts prior to the regular season. He caught 51 passes for 702 yards and five touchdowns last season.
Fantasy Analysis:
With Aaron Hernandez out for a few weeks, maybe Branch gets on the field for a few snaps, but he's not going to surpass Wes Welker
, Brandon Lloyd
, Julian Edelman
on the depth chart. And Rob Gronkowski is still around. It's a nice story, but one to ignore for fantasy purposes. I have no idea if Branch has anything left in the tank. I'm sure he'll catch a couple of feel-good touchdowns this season during New England home games, but you can leave him on the open market.
