Rams running back Steven Jackson
told Anthony Stalter of 101 ESPN in St. Louis that "he had an MRI on his groin and everything turned out 'positive'" Jackson could have returned in Week 2, but since rookie RB Daryl Richardson played well, the team opted to sit him as a precaution. Head coach Jeff Fisher also pointed out last night that Jackson has not been ruled out for the Rams' Week 3 game against the Chicago Bears.
Fantasy Analysis:
Even though the circumstances surrounding this injury are a bit strange, Jackson's return likely only complicates matters for those fantasy owners who drafted him. Through two games, he hasn't scored a touchdown and has only accumulated 142 total yards. For now, Jackson is playing like a flex option and needs to improve quickly. Even though Richardson lost a fumble last week, he broke off a 53-yard run. Jackson hasn't had a run that big since Week 2 of the 2009 season. Richardson may have earned himself a bigger role for the remainder of the season.
