Oakland Raiders tight end Brandon Myers
, while catching a critical 15-yard pass on third and long, was concussed after taking a serious hit from Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Mundy. Myers had to leave the game although he did finish the day with four catches for 55 yards. Myers, a fourth-year vet out of Iowa, is already on pace to have a career-best season. He's caught all 15 targets thrown to him this year for 206 yards. 11 of his 15 receptions have been first downs.
Fantasy Analysis:
Safe to say that Myers wasn't on anyone's radar heading into the season, except diehard Raiders' fans. Thrust into a starting role, the 6'3, 256-pounder isn't exactly fantasy gold, but depending on your scoring system, he is likely a low-end TE1. With many established names off to a sluggish start at the position, abandon all pre-conceived notions of who is supposed to be doing what. Who has more points Jared Cook
or Martellus Bennett? Jacob Tamme
or Dennis Pitta? Who doesn't wish they had Kyle Rudolph
after his huge Week 3 game against the 49ers? Myers is among a group of breakout stars at tight end this season and you might consider adding him to your bench just in case he's the next big thing. Myers' Week 4 status has yet to be determined.
