Kansas City Chiefs running back Peyton Hillis
was seen in a walking boot due to an ankle injury Monday. He only saw three carries before exiting the game. The extra workload for Jamaal Charles
led to him having 288 total yards and seven carries went to No. 3 back Shaun Draughn
. The Kansas City Star notes that the Chiefs main concern with Hillis out is the potential to overwork Charles, which would lead on Draughn seeing an increased workload.
Fantasy Analysis:
The Chiefs are fifth in the NFL in rushing attempts, first in rushing yards, and first in yards per carry. Needless to say that they are holding up their promise to be more committed to the run game. In a ball control, power rushing offense, every yard counts and Hillis had a strong performance in Week 2 in spite of his team's loss. Looking to build off that in Week 3 led to his injury and he's currently listed as questionable for this Sunday. Rather than pick up Draughn, fantasy owners should be looking to enjoy the fruits of Charles' increased workload. If you don't have him, trading for him won't be easy but it might be worth it because he looked fantastic against the Saints' inept defense.
