From the Washington Redskins official Twitter account comes a quote from head coach Mike Shanahan that states wide receiver Leonard Hankerson
has played "well enough to earn a starting job." In the two games Washington has played without the services of WR Pierre Garcon
, Hankerson has six receptions for 124 yards and a score. A big 68-yard TD reception has inflated his yards per catch to a sterling 20.7 rate.
Fantasy Analysis:
Hankerson can stretch the field and his continued progress and playing time will only benefit his route running and precision as a possession receiver. Once Garcon is back though, he'll be competing with WRs Josh Morgan, Santana Moss
, and Aldrick Robinson
for playing time and production. The Redskins passing attack is much-improved with QB Robert Griffin III
, but it remains to be seen how many fantasy receivers it can sustain. Make the most of Hankerson's increased playing time because it won't last much longer once Garcon returns.
