According to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora, the Redskins are in the process of signing running back Ryan Grant. Grant has been looking for work all year after his five-year stretch with Green Bay ended after last season. He worked out for the Bears and the Lions in the past week, but latches on with the Redskins to help them out with their thinning depth at the running back position.
Fantasy Analysis:
Ears perk up whenever Mike Shanahan adds a running back, but don't think too hard about this one. Roy Helu
and Evan Royster
were both injured during Sunday's loss to Cincinnati -- Helu has turf toe; Royster has a strained patellar tendon. So the Redskins bring in Grant for nothing more than depth. If Helu and Royster can't play in the upcoming game, maybe Grant sees some field time, but it won't be enough to matter to fantasy owners. Alfred Morris
is locked in as the Redskins' starting running back, and he has no close competition right now.
