San Diego Chargers wide receiver Malcom Floyd signed a three-year contract extension through 2015 on Wednesday. The financial terms were not released. Through three games, Floyd has 13 catches for 227 yards and a score. The seven-year veteran has only played all 16 games in a season once, that coming back in 2009. Floyd is outproducing both Robert Meachem and Eddie Royal
, two free agent WR acquisitions that San Diego brought in this off-season.
Fantasy Analysis:
Floyd has 23 targets through three games and is playing head-and-shoulders above his teammates. The Chargers passing game hasn't quite caught fire just yet which leaves open the possibility of improved stats. For those counting on production from Robert Meachem, that's a waste of perfectly good patience. Floyd deserves this extension and knowing San Diego, it made sense for them financially as well. The former Wyoming receiver is now 31 years old and finish his career in San Diego, which is where he started, if he so chooses.
