Redskins QB Robert Griffin III sustains 'mild' concussion

Robert Griffin III @RGIII has played a reckless brand of football in his rookie season. That's why what happened to him Sunday felt so inevitable. Griffin was knocked out of Sunday's game versus the Falcons in the third quarter after taking a vicious hit while on the run. He suffered a cut on his chin, but according to head coach Mike Shanahan, he also sustained a "mild" concussion.
"At that time, when he wasn't really sure what the score was or what the quarter was, we knew he had a mild concussion, at least according to the doctors," Shanahan said. "He feels good right now. A lot better right now."
Per NFL protocol, Griffin will need to pass a battery of tests and be cleared by independent doctors if he wants to play next week against Minnesota. But Griffin thinks he'll be able to able to play in that game.
"Thank you for all the prayers & support," Griffin wrote via Twitter, "I'm ok and I think after all the testing I will play next week."

Fantasy Analysis:

Kirk Cousins @KirkCousins8 replaced Griffin and aside from throwing to a completely uncovered Santana Moss for a 77-yard touchdown, he looked pretty awful. There is no such thing as a "mild" concussion, and we should know more about Griffin's status Monday when he is re-evaluated. All of his owners know that this is part of the package when it comes to owning RGIII. He takes too many unnecessary hits, including this one. It occurred on a third-and-goal run to the right. Griffin had no hopes of reaching the end zone, but instead of simply stepping out of bounds, he got crushed. I own him, and I really, really want to cash in right now.
