Steelers RB Rashard Mendenhall exceeds expectations

The Pittsburgh Steelers ranked dead-last in rushing offense heading into Week 5 with a 2.6 yards per carry average. Running back Rashard Mendenhall @R_Mendenhall more than doubled that in his return on Sunday, rushing for 81 yards and a score on only 14 carries, good for a 5.8 ypc average. Add two receptions for 20 yards and he had an all-around great game as the Steelers won with a field goal as time expired against the Philadelphia Eagles, 16-14.

Fantasy Analysis:

For whatever reason, Mendenhall has gotten a bad reputation over the last year. The Steelers' offensive line hasn't been great, but Mendenhall had rushed for 3,309 yards and 29 TDs over the last three seasons. Those certainly aren't numbers to scoff at and there's really no doubt who the team's best RB is after his Week 5 performance. For those who have clung to Mendenhall over the past month, they were justly rewarded assuming they started him last week. The O-line could still be better, but this at least proves that Mendenhall is worth a start given a favorable matchup.
