Chargers WR Robert Meachem excels, yet falls short in return to New Orleans

After four seasons with the New Orleans Saints, wide receiver Robert Meachem moved on to the San Diego Chargers. After a very promising sophomore season (45 receptions for 722 yards and nine TDs), Meachem was unable to improve on any of those numbers as he found himself buried on the Saints' depth chart. The former Tennessee receiver did his best to take down his old team as illustrated by his three receptions for 67 yards and two scores, but it wasn't enough to seal the victory. The Saints won 31-24.

Fantasy Analysis:

Meachem has had a very up-and-down 2012 so far. In Week 2 and 4, he didn't even register a catch. Heading into Week 5, he only had six receptions for 92 yards which might be good for a single game but certainly not for a quarter of the season. All that changed on Sunday night but Meachem still has a long way to go. While he's great, if only inconsistent as a deep threat, he has yet to develop much refinement as a possession receiver and certainly is far from becoming a "go-to guy" for Philip Rivers.
