New Orleans Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma
told WVUE-TV on Sunday night that he will be removed from the physically unable to perform list on Tuesday. He had been dealing with a serious knee injury. "I'll be allowed to practice, I'll be allowed to play versus Tampa Bay (in Week 8)," Vilma said. The Saints have a bye in Week 7 and after that, Vilma should be able to play. This injury caused the former University of Miami star to miss five games in 2011 and it also required three procedures over the last eight months.
Fantasy Analysis:
The Saints need all the help they can get on the defensive side of the ball. They rank dead last in total defense by allowing 456 total yards per game. A closer look reveals a 26th-ranked pass defense and run defense ranked second to last. Atlanta leads their division at 6-0, Tampa Bay and Carolina are both 2-3 while the Saints are 1-4. Another loss could effectively end New Orleans already slim-to-none chances of reaching the playoffs. As for Vilma, he had been a consistent IDP option in years past, but has a lot to prove in order to garner a roster spot. One thing is for sure, he'll be on the field a lot.
