Just when it appeared that New York Jets running back Bilal Powell might overtake starting RB Shonn Greene for the featured back's duties, Powell dislocated his right shoulder while Greene went on to have a career day. ESPN's Adam Schefter has already reported that Powell will "definitely" miss one game although nothing official has been released to confirm that. Greene on the other hand effectively doubled his rushing totals Sunday by rushing for 161 yards and three TDs on 32 carries. Powell will have an MRI Monday and the results with be forthcoming.
Fantasy Analysis:
Greene had struggled in Weeks 2 to 5. In that four game stretch, he faced Pittsburgh, Miami, San Francisco, and Houston and was only able to rush for 123 yards on 49 carries. For those of you without a calculator, that's 2.5 yards per carry and it shouldn't have come as a surprise given the Jets' inconsistent offensive line and the tough defenses he faced. Is Greene suddenly a fantasy RB1? No, not by any stretch, but this game is a classic example of how matchup is a great indicator for potential success. For now, details are very limited regarding Powell's status but we'll have an update once more information is made official.
