When it was first reported today that Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garcon
has a very sore toe and an MRI showed inflammation in the area, a common thought was that Garcon has turf toe. But head coach Mike Shanahan said that is not the case.
"It's not turf toe," Shanahan said. "If it was a turf toe, we would definitely shut [Garcon] down. It's a second toe. It's a capsule underneath the second toe. We've had an MRI on it, and it's him dealing with the pain."
Fantasy Analysis:
I wrote a note earlier about Garcon and turf toe; this is why I go to school to be a journalist, not a doctor. But again, no matter what is wrong with Garcon's foot/toe, he doesn't seem close to 100 percent. He is clearly the Redskins' top wideout when healthy, but he should be firmly planted on all benches until he shows that he can play without being restricted by injury.
