Packers lose ILB D.J. Smith for rest of season

Green Bay Packers head coach announced Monday that inside linebacker D.J. Smith is done for the 2012 season due to a knee injury that's believed to be an ACL tear. Smith had been filling-in for ILB Desmond Bishop @Desbishop55. This will force the Packers to shake up their depth chart in order to find a suitable backup. Smith had been having a very good year with 39 combined tackles, two sacks, and four passes defended.

Fantasy Analysis:

This is a big blow to a team already having difficulties in run defense. Green Bay ranks 17th in the NFL in run defense and 18th in yards allowed per carry. ILB A.J. Hawk @OfficialAJHawk is going to have to step up in a big way. IDP aficionados should keep an eye on Brad Jones @BradJonesInc to step into the starting lineup although there's nothing to suggest he will be a reliable replacement, statistically at least.
