Eagles QB Michael Vick and OC Marty Mornhinweg will keep jobs Week 8

There have been rumblings in the press regarding the status of both Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick @MikeVick and offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg. Speculation was fueled after head coach Andy Reid suggested changes would be made after the firing of defensive coordinator Juan Castillo. Reid said Tuesday, "As I sit here today, [Vick is] the starting quarterback." Mornhinweg will call plays on offense for the foreseeable future.

Fantasy Analysis:

High expectations have caught up with the Eagles. A 3-3 start is causing a lot of second-guessing and finger-pointing among the media and fanbase. Vick, as far as I'm concerned, gives Philly their best shot to win. Rookie Nick Foles @NFoles8 is not the second coming. This upcoming game against the Atlanta Falcons on Oct. 28 can still redeem this team. The Eagles are only one game back in their division and it's way too early to hit the panic button. Vick remains a low-end QB1 in fantasy too.

I don't think Vick is the best option to win for the Eagles. His turnovers especially in the redzone have cost them 2 of their 3 losses. His whole career ha been plagued with fumbles. Leadin the league in 04-10 and now 2012. 86 fumbles in 114 games. The only way to stop the turnovers is to take the ball out of his hands and quit asking him to do so much. The play calling is horrid. They have one of the top 5 running backs in the league and do not use him enough. When you QB is having major fumbling issues you run the ball. Foles may not yet be the second coming but playing against 2nd and 3rd string or not he showed great pocket presence, confidence and delivered with accuracy. He didn't take off everytime a lineman got within 10 feet of him, take a huge hit, fumble or throw an INT. I believe the Eagles need to bench Vick now. The kid Foles can't do any worse. I also think that him being in the game will make Marty and Reid run the ball more which will not only help them move the ball with a running back like McCoy but also bring the LBs and Safety's up so when Foles does throw he can hit them open speedsters. Most Eagles fans and myself I believe would much rather see the kid get in the game and get some experience, see the Eagles actually run the ball with McCoy and watch a QB stay in the pocket and throw the ball then see Vick turn it over 3-4 times a game and end every successful drive with a red zone turnover. It's either he gets benched or we just keep praying he gets hurt. Biggest waste of money ever spent was signing Vick thinking he would be any better then before after sitting in prison for 2 years. Never was an accurate passer. Never was a winner and never could hold on to the ball. Just a glorified RB that's small and has small hands.
