In spite of their 13-6 victory over the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis
was held without a catch for the first time since 2008 and quarterback Alex Smith threw no targets his way. "Some of the routes I usually run, they are taking them away," Davis said. "The (routes) up the sideline, it's not there. Nothing's there. When I run my corner routes, the cornerback is dropping to the corner. They are just taking stuff away, some of my explosive routes and stuff."
Fantasy Analysis:
As Davis goes, so go the 49ers. An adjustment will have to be made because an already limited passing team can't afford to lose its best receiving threat. Davis expressed this opinion right after the game and the media noted that he did seem frustrated. After scoring four touchdowns in the first three games of the year, Davis hasn't scored in his last four outings. These inconsistencies should be expected for a guy who plays in an offense that lacks an explosive passing game.
