Due to a season-ending Achilles' injury to tight end Fred Davis
, the Washington Redskins will re-sign former tight end Chris Cooley
. He will undergo a physical Monday before officially signing with the team. The nine-year vet had been a fan favorite in the DC area and when the team released him, it was a big issue amongst the local media. Davis tore his Achilles' in the first half of Washington's 27-23 loss. Davis had been the team's leading receiver with 23 receptions for 312 yards. "I had a lot of things I wanted to do this year and I was doing it," Davis said. "It's very discouraging."
Fantasy Analysis:
TE Logan Paulsen and Chris Cooley will likely split reps, so don't immediately jump on the Cooley bandwagon. He was released due to a perceived decline in his athletic abilities so it's unlikely he's going to put up numbers like it's 2005 all over again. For what it's worth, in 2010, Cooley finished with 77 receptions for 849 yards and three scores. He's certainly worth keeping an eye on given his history as a fantasy staple.
