Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew
will not play in Week 8 against the Green Bay Packers due to a foot injury. In his place, RB Rashad Jennings
will get the start. MJD has an "arch sprain" according to head coach Mike Mularkey "based on the pressure and where the initial swelling comes from." Apparently Jones-Drew injured himself on his very first carry and then came out of the game after his second. Jacksonville will likely need to sign an additional reserve running back since Montell Owens sustained a shoulder injury.
Fantasy Analysis:
Jacksonville ranks 32nd in the NFL in total offense (235.8 ypg). For some context, 17 teams in the NFL average more than that in passing yards alone. Even though Jennings is a rather talented backup, it's going to be difficult for him to gain any traction as Jacksonville's only viable offensive playmaker. Green Bay's defense will be able to stack the box and take away the run in order to force the Jags into 2nd/3rd and long. If you're in serious need of a backup, by all means, Jennings is likely the best waiver wire option available, but that doesn't mean he'll be able to capitalize on this opportunity in Week 8.
