Buffalo Bills defensive end Mario Williams had a procedure done on his injured left wrist. Chris Brown, lead journalist at BuffaloBills.com tweeted that Williams "to be ready to practice next week." Buffalo is on a bye. Head coach Chan Gailey told reporters, "Mario will be back to practice next week, that's what I expect." The Bills rank second to last in the NFL in points allowed per game (32.4). Williams only played five games last season.
The Bills took a big risk signing Williams to a mega-contract after he missed 14 games during the previous two seasons. The seventh-year veteran has 3.5 sacks through seven games. The former North Carolina State star blames his wrist injury on his slow start. Buffalo's fantasy defense has been hit or miss this year. In three games, they held their opponent to under 20 points and forced at least two turnovers. In another three games, they allowed at least 45 points during huge blowouts. That type of inconsistency is best avoided altogether.
