Carolina Panthers linebacker Jon Beason
has officially been placed on season-ending injured reserve. Through Week 4, the former Miami Hurricanes star was enjoying a solid start to the season. In early September, he was battling a hamstring injury. Two weeks later, there were injuries to his knee and shoulder. Now, he is scheduled to having season-ending knee surgery sometime next week. "I've been pretty banged up, it's been week to week," Beason said. "And we decided to take another look at the knee, see what's going on. Got the MRI yesterday and it didn't look good."
Fantasy Analysis:
Beason was on a high career trajectory following the 2010 season. He had made three consecutive Pro Bowls. Analysts and most football fans agreed that behind San Francisco's Patrick Willis, he was certainly one of the best young inside linebackers in the game. He missed all but the regular season opener in 2011 and now will have only played four games in 2012. Look for LBs James Anderson
and rookie Luke Kuechly to see a spike in playing time, particularly on third downs.
