A high ankle sprain will keep Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin
on the sidelines in Week 8. The second-year standout did not practice on Wednesday and may be out "a couple weeks" according to Liz Mathews of 710 ESPN. Baldwin only has 11 receptions for 149 yards and one TD through six games. Head coach Pete Carroll had recently told the media that he wanted to get Baldwin more involved in the offense, but that obviously can't happen with him potentially out for multiple weeks.
Fantasy Analysis:
The former Stanford receiver is only averaging three targets per game, compared his promising rookie season. In all fairness to Baldwin, Seattle ranks 31st in passing offense (161.9 ypg). Sidney Rice
, Golden Tate
, and Zach Miller are accounting for the vast majority of the Seahawks' receiving totals. The trio has combined for 81 targets, 49 receptions, 682 yards, and five scores. Unless Russell Wilson
turns it around in the second half the season, it's unlikely that any of Seattle's pass-catchers becomes anything more than a bench player in most fantasy leagues.
