Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall
hasn't practced all week, so it's of little surprise that he has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Redskins. He has been dealing with an Achilles injury that he suffered in Week 6, but CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora tweets that Mendenhall "is on schedule to return in Week 9."
Fantasy Analysis:
Elsewhere in the Pittsburgh backfield, Isaac Redman
is practicing for a second consecutive day. While the injury report isn't out yet, Redman will probably be listed as questionable, but it seems like he will be active versus the Redskins. However, Jonathan Dwyer
is the favorite to get the bulk of the carries for the second week in a row. He ran very well against the Bengals last Sunday night, but the Redskins' run defense is a step up in class. They are in the top 10 in run defense and the bottom 10 in fantasy points allowed to RBs. However, with Dwyer looking like a near lock for 15-20 carries, he is at least a high-end flex play.
When Mendenhall presumably returns in Week 9, this could be a three-headed, muddled situation to avoid against the Giants.
