Associated Press thinks Chargers coach Norv Turner's job is safe

The San Diego Chargers and their 3-4 record will face the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday. The Associated Press is reporting that head coach Norv Turner will not likely be fired during the season. Turner mentioned that he had not spoken to general manager A.J. Smith or team president Dean Spanos about his job status. Given that Turner is responsible for much of the offensive play-calling and since Turner is signed through 2013, there aren't any signs that Turner will be fired, at least according to this analysis.

Fantasy Analysis:

Although there may be reasons to keep Turner, there is one perfectly justified reason in firing him: the Chargers aren't any good and they underperform nearly every season. I don't have anything against San Diego, but most would agree that this team should be better and in previous seasons, should have played better under Turner's watch. Turner hasn't led San Diego to the playoffs since 2009 and has a career losing record of 110-117-1. Given the inconsistencies of the AFC West, a path to success should come easier for what has been a good team over the years.
