Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger dominates the Steelers' injury report and rightfully so. Roethlisberger, the only thing keeping Byron Leftwich from getting his first start since 2009, is extremely iffy for Sunday's game against the Ravens because of a sprained shoulder and a rib injury.
Elsewhere on the report, head coach Mike Tomlin said that both wide receiver Antonio Brown
and running back Rashard Mendenhall
are questionable to play. Tomlin called safety Troy Polamalu doubtful.
Fantasy Analysis:
More should be known about Roethlisberger's injury later in the week, but he seems to be a long shot to play in Week 11. And I do not like the prospects for Mike Wallace as long as Leftwich is the starter. Leftwich has a strong arm, but he's a statue in the pocker, and will the Steelers' leaky offensive line allow him to get the ball on target to Wallace? I am not optimistic.
Although both Mendenhall and Brown are considered questionable, they shouldn't be considered equal in terms of health. Brown has a high ankle sprain and is very likely to miss his second straight game. Mendenhall has a better chance of suiting up, but even if that happens, we'll probably have a three-man backfield on our hands with Mendenhall, Isaac Redman
and Jonathan Dwyer
. Yuck.
