We see it all the time. Player gets injured during a game, leaves and later returns to the game. He plays well as adrenaline carries him through. Afterwards, the player really begins to feel the pain, and although he was able to play through it before, there's no gurantee he will be able to gear up to do it again.
That's the case with Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones
. He didn't practice at all this week due to an ankle injury and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Jones originally suffered the injury in the first quarter of Atlanta's Week 10 loss to the Saints, but he returned in the second half.
Running back Michael Turner also isn't a sure bet to play Sunday. He is questionable because of a groin injury, but at least he made it through three limited practices this week.
Fantasy Analysis:
Maybe that groin played a role in Turner getting absolutely nothing done against the Saints. He faces a much tougher opponent this week, so I can advocate Turner as only a flex play this week. This is just another reason why the Falcons should give Jacquizz Rodgers
more playing time.
With Jones, it will go down to pregame warmups. Head coach Mike Smith has said he will wait as long as he can before making a call on his stud wideout. Right now, the feeling is he will play, but that feeling isn't accompanied with much confidence. If Jones is out, Harry Douglas
and Drew Davis would likely see an uptick in snaps.
